Huntington includes the incorporated villages and hamlets of Huntington Bay, Lloyd Neck and Lloyd Harbor as well as...The Historical section and "the village" where homes from the early 1600’s still stand, as well as trendy, tony restaurants and shopping. Huntington and Huntington Bay are Huntington Union Free School District #3. Lloyd Harbor and Lloyd Neck are a part of the Cold Spring Harbor School District #2.

Cold Spring Harbor is at the most north westerly portion of the township, neighboring Oyster Bay Cove and Laurel Hollow. Harking back to the bustling whaling community it once was in the mid 1800's, shops and historical ship captain residences line a charming Main Street. Cold Spring Harbor School District #2 is shared with Lloyd Neck and Lloyd Harbor residences.

Northport/Fort Salonga is the most easterly and has early 20th century architecture, beach front properties, as well as traditional homes, a rolling terrain and home town feel Main Street with sundry style shopping. Home to new The Engmann Theater, fine galleries and a wine-bar has come on the scene. Northport is coming into its own. School District #4 is the Northport/East Northport School District.

Centerport, between Northport and Huntington, has a mix of beach bungalows and traditional homes. Centerport enjoys public and private community beaches and is home to The Crescent Club Golf Course. Harborfields School District #6 includes Centerport and Greenlawn.

Elwood is a town 'in the Heart" of Huntington. It has no "Main Strret" or town center, or zip code of its own.But it has its own Elwood School District #1.

West Hills and Melville are at the most south westerly communites neighboring the Nassau County town's Woodbury and Plainview. Boasting fine horse and hiking trails picnic facilities, West Hills County Park is a gem nestled in this part of Huntington. Huntington Station, South Huntington and West Hills are all within the South Huntington School District #13.

Dix Hills at the most southern portion of the township has contemporary and traditional homes close to major parkways. Half Hollow Hills is School District #5.

Commack is a town at the most south easterly quadrent in Huntington Township. Commack Schools are School District #10.

Huntington Township comprises a large area. Hugging the north coast of Long Island along the Sound and stretching south beyond the Long Island Expressway. With a population of approximately 202,000 residents in more than 68,000 house holds, there are several small towns and a total of eight school districts.
